Little Xmas carol for yu-all!

He he he. Yu-all. Geddit? Okay moving on.

I wrote this little xmas number with the idea that it would as though you heard the door ringing and a choir of frozen carollers began to sing this little ditty...
Merry christmas to everyone...

(offers of eggnog - once I find out what that is - eagerly accepted).

Throughout the night

Throughout the night
And every year
You take your watch
till day returns
And when it does
You take your leave
Just one more lifetimes
worth of cheer

What drives you on?
What keeps you there ?
Is your will strong as mine or more?
Or is it love which stings the heart
Or blasts it through another year

You have your brothers
Your sisters too
Your children sing
Your friends are true
The sky is wide
The stars are clear
And Christmas comes
Another year

What drives you on?
What keeps you there ?
Is your will as strong as mine or more?
Or is it love which stings the heart
Or blasts it through another year

The angels hide
If such there be
In the hidden places
you hold dear
And gold and jewels
Are not so rare
As those who live to
Love again

In endless watches you stand before
And day breaks lighting up your face
And who am I to count the waves
Which break unending on the shore?

Though you may falter
And lose your step
Cold winds may come to drive you back
You'll draw your love around
Your back
like a warm wool lined coat

As for your sorrows
May they be few
And many your joys
No cares plague you
The road you travel
Is Soft and smooth
And your companion I'll be.

Fab free album from alt country band The Civil Wars

I've become a little bit addicted to this alt country duo and their ridiculously sweet duets. Far be it from me to share an opinion with Taylor Swift, but you have to be pretty jaded to dislike them.
They're giving away a free live album so you can decide for yourself. A nice little pre-xmas gift
The Civil Wars - Live at Eddie's Attic

Here's a video to show you what I mean.

New Trespass "Turbulence" event

Brilliant, cosy night at The Bell pub on petticoat lane (apples and pears etc)

The marvellous Miss Dzifa Benson read about Dancing with Octopi, leaping into the eye of a hurricane and Hitchcock blondes...

Agnes Meadows' sultry shoe poems (red high heels, they are not for walking in), Singaporean teens cutting themselves and ochenshloggen whisky (that's what it sounded like, anyway!)

Tim Wells read his pieces from the latest issue: imagining what porn stars talk about in between takes, a man being shot in the head in the local cafe, and posh students...

Wes Brown (guest ed of the issue) read an excerpt from 'Shark', his novel, with a lovely line about a soldier home from war, breaking his words in two...

Then we had a bit of open mic featuring past contributor John Stiles and Newbie David Walter.
Designer Van Nim popped by for mince pies and Scarlet Starlings played a few tunes.

Last event of the year, a whiff of nostalgia for things past, it's all rushed by so quickly. Merry Xmas to everyone, let's raise a glass of ochenshloggen and curl up in front of a warn fire (or person).

New Trespass Turbulence Launch December 12

When: 8pm-10:30pm
Where:The Bell Pub, 50 Middlesex Street, London E1 7EX

Welcome to the New Trespass last launch of 2011!

With the Sex & Violence issue off the ground eerily mirroring the turbulence of 2011 with its content, I thought it would an apt theme for our last event.
Somewhere there's a butterfly flapping its wings frantically!

With riots and civil unrest all over the world lets huddle together this X-mas and hope for better things to come...

Performers include:
Tim Wells
Agnes Meadows
Dzifa Benson
and more...

Hope to see you all there, we might have a bit of music as well if I can lure the players out with mince pie crumbs...
x Sara-Mae

Scarlet Starlings gig at the Monarch 30 Nov with I am a Pilot

Here are some pics from last nights gig:

Charly Blue and the Colours - they played minus two members (brown and blue?) but were still fab.

Elvina & I - it was great to see sisters Sarah and Kat playing live.

I Am a Pilot - always great, they played a super tight set.

Here's a little vid of us playing:
